MEMBERS of the Bangladesh Rifles arrested three Jummas from Durchari
village in Panchari near Bangladesh – India border yesterday
Sources said a group of BDR border guards from 30 Rifle Battalion
raided the village and arrested Sona Moni Tripura (17) son of Ananda
Mohan Tripura of village Milton Para (Bhagwan Tila), Sushil Chakma
(40) son of Mon Chan Chakma of village Gashban in Bhaibon chara and
Satyo Priyo Chakma (25) son of Suryo Joti Chakma of village Obhinash
Para under Logang Union.
They were handed over to Panchari police station the same day in the
evening and then sent to Khagrachari jail today.
The police claim that they have recovered a homemade pipe gun, two
mobile SIMs and a bottle of foreign liquors from them.
However, chtnews.com could not independently verify the veracity of their claim.
An unconfirmed source said the arrested Jummas are mere hunters.
However, it could not explain the circumstance in which they were
arrested.
